The minimum legal limit in the UK for the tyre tread depth is 1.6mm, however most tyre manufacturer’s would advise you to replace a tyre that has reached 3mm or below.
Tyres that are illegal carry a fine of £2,500 and 3 penalty points per tyre, so having your vehicle serviced on a regular basis will help ensure your safety as well as avoid points and fines.
Regular tyre pressure checks will help prolong the life of your vehicles tyres. Under-inflation is one of the main causes of uneven premature wear on your vehicles tyres. It only takes five minutes and a check once or twice a month should be enough.
